Zoo progress pt. 6

Some more progress on the zoo. Quite a few updates to existing exhibits and creation of some new ones. I now have frogs, glow squid, axolotls, and a bat in the nocturnal exhibit too. I'm currently breeding axolotls in attempt to breed the rare blue variant. I needed a place for some pigs and chickens, and J suggested a small petting zoo. I built it close to the front entrance. Closer detail of some of the internal walls with the outer wall behind it. I was going to strip the bark off the birch logs here, but I actually quite liked how it turned out. Some more detail of the other wall now that it is completely finished. I capped the entire surround with mud brick slabs and a few stairs. I'm going to try and get a ravager into this pen, but if I can't then I'll have to figure out something else to put in there. This exhibit will be for sheep and cows and sort of represent a birch forest or meadow. It took me a long time, but I managed to bring two pandas over from a ba...

More progress on the zoo. Mostly around infrastructure. Entrance and tickets. This is based on a zoo in Seattle.   Visitor car park. Eventually I'll build some cars to go on it. It is joined directly to the tunnel. The entrance tunnel. There is a fake wall that hides the Nether Portal. I created a custom resource pack to give me items that could be placed in item frames to cover the wall. Outer wall made from logs Creeper exhibit based on aquifers and lush Guardian exhibit, based on a miniature Ocean Monument

New year, same updates. Working on some more exhibits on the zoo, as well as finalising all the guest and staff access paths. I'm thinking I'll surround the entire zoo in a 5 or 6 high wall of logs, although I am unsure how that will look at this stage. The desert/savannah exhibit. I've built a mesa-type wall around the back with some acacia trees for shade. I took advantage of the new /fillbiome command to change the grass and leaves to a more brown colour fitting of the savannah theme. Some llamas were wandering around near the library so I brought them over with leads. I have a whole host of llamas over in Tanisen City, but getting them over to the zoo would be a long way to travel, even in the Nether. The polar exhibit. I am unsure at this stage how to further decorate this area, apart from variegate the background stone, and perhaps a few more layers of snow. The freshwater exhibit. I've finished decorating this one for the moment, but I'll maybe add some fo...

A bit more work on the zoo in the nocturnal building. Endermite exhibit. Silverfish exhibit. No idea just yet how I'm going to get a silverfish over to the zoo. Axolotl exhibit. Glow squid exhibit. Bat exhibit. This needs more work.

(Update progress 23 December 2022) More progress made on the paths and elevation of the exhibits, along with walls and some decorations. But the biggest change is the work done on the nocturnal building. Arial view of the nocturnal building and aviary. Close up of the nocturnal building. Inside the nocturnal building next to what will be the glow squid and axolotl exhibits.   (Update progress 28 December 2022) More progress on some exhibits. Aquarium, with the nocturnal building (and its roof) in background. Taiga exhibit, foxes will go on the left, and wolves on the right. Forest exhibit. Horses, cows and rabbits will go in this area.   (Update progress 29 December 2022) Some more progress on the nocturnal building; its roof and internal pens. Arial view of the nocturnal building. Looking west at the nocturnal building. I'm waiting for the new bamboo block types in the next update to fill in the gaps around the top of the walls. Internal view of the ceiling beams. Simil...

(Update progress 21 December 2022) I built a library which has a museum, an archive, and a gallery. All of those are static so it seemed like a good idea to build something to contain all the things that give life to Minecraft - a zoo. So I set about designing one. Initially I picked a piece of land (north of the library), took a screenshot of the area and played around with a layout in photoshop. After getting inspiration from the Central Park Zoo, I then redesigned it again on paper and worked out where each exhibit would sit, along with public paths, zookeeper access, elevation and borders.               Original photoshop layout (left) and updated hand drawn layout (right). I have followed the new layout fairly faithfully with some minor dimension adjustments.   A view of the aviary area and savannah and jungle exhibits on the right. A view of the taiga exhibit that will feature foxes and wolves. Looking no...
