Inside the nocturnal building next to what will be the glow squid and axolotl exhibits.   (Update progress 28 December 2022) More progress on some exhibits. Aquarium, with the nocturnal building (and its roof) in background. Taiga exhibit, foxes will go on the left, and wolves on the right. Forest exhibit. Horses, cows and rabbits will go in this area.   (Update progress 29 December 2022) Some more progress on the nocturnal building; its roof and internal pens. Arial view of the nocturnal building. Zoo progress pt. 1

(Update progress 21 December 2022) I built a library which has a museum, an archive, and a gallery. All of those are static so it seemed like a good idea to build something to contain all the things that give life to Minecraft - a zoo. So I set about designing one. Initially I picked a piece of land (north of the library), took a screenshot of the area and played around with a layout in photoshop. After getting inspiration from the Central Park Zoo, I then redesigned it again on paper and worked out where each exhibit would sit, along with public paths, zookeeper access, elevation and borders.               Original photoshop layout (left) and updated hand drawn layout (right). I have followed the new layout fairly faithfully with some minor dimension adjustments.   A view of the aviary area and savannah and jungle exhibits on the right. A view of the taiga exhibit that will feature foxes and wolves. Looking no...

Faelbirhad Athenaeum (The Library) pt. 1

The Faelbirhad Athenaeum, or just 'the library' is a project I started north of Hartson Springs and west of The power station. I wanted to create a medium-large scale library that was recessed into a mountainside, and could be the place where the lore of the world could be organised. It features a two-level library, alongside an art gallery, a huge map of the world (which will be an on going project), an archive for every item in Minecraft, and a museum of miniature structures.   The external structure and front rooms are based on a a structure I found online, but have been (and will continue to be) heavily modified. The original structure I found on Planet Minecraft by Petesire. Inside the front entrance. The archway in the centre leads to the main body of the library. The missing bookshelf block spaces I plan on filling with the new chiseled bookshelves from 1.20. The front counter. The books are custom heads from Minecraft Heads . The reading and research area. The glass ...
