Caldera Forge
I decided I wanted to convert a Mushroom Island into a place where I can run farms and remain protected from attacks at night, as hostile mobs do not spawn in that biome, so I went about removing the mycelium from the ground and growing grass in its place. Originally a floating structure based on the old 'many doors village' style Iron Farm, which I updated to a modern villager workstation design. Early on it was just a hill with a crater, but then I built the volcano up around it, along with the forge room at it's base.
Going with the forge theme, I built a kelp harvester and cooker out off the eastern shore. The island also holds three kinds of tree farm in various stages of completion, and a (currently broken) moohshroom farm. I have plans to link this with the rail system at some point too.
Various views of the volcano.
A view inside the volcano showing the villager powered iron farm, with two freshly spawned iron golems flowing off the platform.
The kelp harvester. The timing circuit (front centre) triggers the harvester periodically. The kelp breaks and floats up to the surface, and flows to the sides. Two hopper minecarts pick up the loose items and deposit them into the pipes (left) which sends them to the cookers.
One side of the kelp cooker. Kelp is cooked, and the player can then craft into blocks and fed back into the system to provide the fuel.
View of the forge. Iron from the iron farm comes into the system and is deposited in front of the player, or into storage.
